Today is the day we have been waiting for. 654 days later, we are finally transferring our first embryo. I woke up at 3:30 a.m. because in my dream I looked at the clock and it said it was 10:30 a.m. and we were still at home... OMG we missed the appointment! Thank heavens it was just a dream. The next 4 hours of sleep were not the best as you can imagine. We woke up a few hours later to drive up to Indy for the transfer.
We arrived about 20 minutes prior to our scheduled arrival time of 10:30 a.m. My bladder was extremely full and felt like I was going to pee my pants. For the transfer you have to have a full bladder so it helps push the uterus into better view on the ultrasound. They got us back to the procedure section of the office and set up in the room. After getting into our new digs, see below, now we wait for the nurses and the doctor to come back and get the process started.
Because we arrived so early, the nurse came back and said I could go to the bathroom and then drink some more water and I should be okay for the procedure. She said “or just let half out.” uh lady, my bladder is going to explode so it’s all or nothing at this point. After, I chugged another bottle of water and was ready to go. Dr. Will came in and went through the procedure steps and then showed us the first picture of our little baby.
We walked back to the transfer room, I took my spot on the table and Cheyenne sat to my left. We confirmed identity and then Dr. Will used the ultrasound to look for the fluid sac that they had found last week. After some hunting, we were in the clear, the sac was gone! Dr. Will got everything prepped and set up and the lab tech brought in the tube with the embryo in it. Dr. Will put the embryo in and we were able to watch the whole transfer on the ultrasound screen. So cool being able to watch our little one be placed there. And just like that 10 minutes later it was done.
We changed back into our clothes and checked out. I scheduled my first beta test (blood test to confirm if the transfer worked or not) for Day 664. Now we have 10 days to just wait... and wait... until we get the official word if the embryo stuck or not. Stick Baby Stick. Sticking is just step one... then, if it sticks, we wait a few more weeks for a heartbeat.
Dont yall just love the waiting!!? Welcome to the club :)
ATTENTION: Please note that the next blog will be posted when we are ready to share the results. Good or bad, I will let yall know. There may be a longer time between this and the next blog, but we appreciate your patience and respect as we await the results. If we share/have shared the outcome with you individually, please keep that information private. Thank you all that have supported us through this whole process. It has been extremely exhausting and stressful but with your love, it has made it that much easier. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we await the results of the biggest test of our lives.
Until Next Time... JR
